Recovery

After the tap down both hands push away with the left hand nearer the stern.

After the hands away balance is helped by leaning the body forward and pressing down with both feet.

Feel your toes and forefeet pressed down on the footplate at all times in the stroke cycle. They should never lift.

The recovery should always take longer than the stroke, at low rates much longer. Listen to the slide as you roll forward. It should make a smooth continuous sound, not a short rushing sound.

And so on to the approach. While you are concentrating do not forget to look round to make sure your way is clear. It is best to look round after the end of the stroke.
