Once the basics are established, technique can be refined by using the senses; looking, listening and feeling.
Of course a coach is still essential, and will spot potential improvements that you had not thought of, but if you can think about your sculling in this way or in your own version of it, you will have many interesting and enjoyable outings. And when racing this will help to make best use of your strength and endurance, though you will need to be incredibly fit as well.
